Introduced last season as part of the fifth-anniversary Carline
Mufflers National Super Sedan Series, the inaugural Queensland
Cup proved such a huge success that the series-within-a-series
will be staged over three rounds again this season. Sponsored
by Brims Coastal Cement in 2010/2011, the Queensland Cup will
once again comprise the opening three rounds of the Carline
Mufflers NSSS to be staged in Brisbane, Gympie and Toowoomba.
In addition to the prizemoney and contingencies on offer at
each round, the Brims Coastal Cement Queensland Cup carries an
additional $1000 prizemoney for the driver leading the Carline
Championship at the conclusion of the opening three rounds. The
Queensland Saloon Car Association will again be supplying the
spectacular Queensland Cup trophy for the series winner as well
as a trophy for the highest placed non-contracted driver at the
conclusion of the three rounds.
Defending Queensland Cup winner Darren Kane will no doubt be
determined to retain his title and secure an early points
advantage in the race for the Carline Championship. However,
with NSSS champion Matt Pascoe, Australian champ Jamie McHugh,
more than 20 contracted drivers from four states and a very
strong group of local challengers also chasing the $1000 bonus,
the on-track action will be nothing short of sensational.
The opening round of the 2010/2011 Brims Coastal Cement
Queensland Cup will be staged at Brisbane International Speedway
on Monday, December 27, with round two to be decided at Gympie’s
unique Mothar Mountain Speedway on Wednesday, December 29. The
final Queensland Cup event will be round three of the Carline
Mufflers National Super Sedan Series at Toowoomba’s Charlton
Raceway on New Year’s Day (Saturday, January 1).
