PROTON SERIES SUPER SEDANS TO CLIMB
MOTHAR MOUNTAIN
SSA Media
Release
This Saturday night the 'Ian Boettcher
Proton' Queensland Super Sedan Series is off to Gympie's 'Mothar
Mountain' Speedway for round 15 of this season's series
championship with the current top five drivers all nominated to
compete and with the points a little closer after series points
leader Darren Kane failed to finish last weekend’s final at
Brisbane there is a little more on the line with drivers needing
to finish to bank all important points.
Darren Kane, Craig Torr, Steve Jordan, Steve Pearce and Jason
Campbell the current top five will not have things their way
completely thought with Colin Hockley, Gympie’s Mark Pagel, Des
Korn and Matt Williams amongst drivers entered that will give
them the hurry up.
The unique speedway is always a place for thrills and spills
when the V8's come to town with the uphill, downhill layout and
not to leave out the kink in the uphill straight sorting out the
field with as the night rolls on.
Jordan who has finished on the podium in the last two race
meetings and is current Australian champion is one of the
drivers to watch this weekend. "Darren has been the man to beat
all season in this deal, and he shot to the lead last week
before his race ended with a crash. I don't see any reason to
believe he won’t be the guy we all need to beat this weekend. We
have been coming on stronger the last couple race meetings and
we will just get there and give it what we've got and see if we
can come home with a big win. We all love going to the 'Mount',
the people are great, the atmosphere is electric and the racing
is fun and unusual. Let's get into it!"
With support from Virtue Race Engines and Hotondo Homes
Rockhampton as round sponsors and with action this weekend
boosted by the 'Send With Us' development series fans will get
to see with the top grade drivers on the same program.
The complete entry list is: Kane, Jordan, Campbell, Sean Black,
Barry Craft, Williams, Gympie’s Tim O'Shea, Korn, Pagel, Pearce,
Torr, Hockley in the Boettcher Proton Series and Peter Smith,
Brendan Doyle, Michael Jenner, Kev Barkle, Barry Grundy, Russell
Dobson, Grant Shaw, David Musch, John Tischler and Les Pascoe in
the ‘Send With Us’ development series.
Smith leads the development series over
Grant Shaw by 15 points after 8 scheduled rounds in which only
four got a race meeting completed due to rain so there is plenty
interest yet in this series for drivers that are striving to get
to the bigger stage. The extra incentive for the development
guys is not only will they run their own feature on Saturday
night, the top four will qualify to start at the back of the
‘Ian Boettcher Proton Series’ feature also.
