After several months of planning, negotiation and coordination, the 2010/2011 Carline Mufflers National Super Sedan Series schedule has been confirmed.  In constructing the 2010/2011 calendar, series organisers have had to consider a range of factors to accommodate the needs of the various stakeholders. Subsequently, the 2010/2011 season will feature several exciting new initiatives as the championship is staged over an extended period. Nine rounds of racing have been confirmed across four states, with Sydney’s Parramatta City Raceway to host a series round for the first time.

The championship will once again get underway with three rounds of racing in Queensland, kicking off at Brisbane International Speedway on Monday, December 27. Gympie’s Mothar Mountain Speedway will host round two on Wednesday, December 29, with Toowoomba’s Charlton Raceway slated for round three on New Year’s Day (Saturday, January 1).  The additional time between each of the Queensland events will make it easier to secure replacement dates in the event of inclement weather and will provide teams with more time to prepare whilst enjoying the holiday season.

In a change from previous seasons, teams will travel direct from Queensland to South Australia for the three consecutive nights of racing that comprise the Tri-City Series which, for the first time, will start at Mount Gambier’s Borderline Speedway on Friday, January 7.  Round two will be staged at Geelong’s Avalon Raceway (Saturday, January 8), while Waarnambool’s Premier Speedway will once again host the Tri-City finale on Sunday, January 9.

Having contested six nights of racing in 14 days, teams will enjoy a well earned respite at the conclusion of the Tri-City Series before reconvening at Murray Bridge Speedway on January 22 for round seven.  From here, many teams will trek to Tasmania for three weeks of racing that will culminate in the Australian Super Sedan Championship at Latrobe’s Bendigo Bank Arena on February 11 and 12.

In another series first, the championship will conclude in New South Wales this season with a double-header weekend of racing. The new Morris Park Speedway in Dubbo will host round eight of the championship on Friday, February 25 before teams converge on Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway for the NSSS Grand Final on Saturday, February 26.  Having the final round of the championship and presentation dinner in Australia’s largest capital city is a very exciting development for the series.

Series organisers have made every effort to construct a schedule of events that satisfies that demands of sponsors, competitors, spectators and host venues.  The spread of events this season will provide teams with more time to recover from the gruelling demands of the series whilst also allowing more opportunities for media coverage and promotional initiatives.
