In the increasingly competitive world of Super Sedan racing, things don't always go to plan and sometimes a night that starts well enough can end disastrously. In such circumstances, a substantial payday can very quickly turn to heartache. In an effort to provide some solace to competitors struck by such misfortunes, a new contingency award this season will provide some compensation in such circumstances.

At every round of the 2009/2010 Carline Mufflers National Super Sedan Series, the winner of the Ian Boettcher Race Parts Hard Luck Award will pick up a $100 voucher courtesy of Ian Boettcher Race Parts. At each round, race officials will determine the winner of the award, which is open to all contracted drivers. Whilst winning this award will probably mean that their night has gone horribly wrong, the recipient of the $100 prize will no doubt appreciate such a gesture during what would otherwise be a moment of great despondency.
