Current National Super Sedan Series champion Matt
Pascoe enjoyed a triumphant return to competition at
Brisbane International Speedway on Saturday night
(November 13), blitzing the field to win round five
of the Ian Boettcher Proton Championship Series.
Piloting Mark O’Brien’s #99 Dodge-Sweet, Pascoe
qualified on pole position and led every circulation
of the 30-lap feature race presented by Auto Parts 4
U.
Whilst Pascoe was in control out front, the minor
placings weren’t decided until the final lap when
series leader Darren Kane edged ahead of Wayne
Brims. Ian Brims occupied fourth spot throughout to
finish ahead of Craig Torr, Darren Lester and
previous round winner Steve Jordan, with Jason
Campbell, Steve Pearce and Sean Black rounding out
the top ten. Barry Craft was next in line, followed
by Des Korn, Lenny Black and Graeme Elliott, who
completed the finishers.
Casualties throughout the event included Colin
Hockley, Scott Galea, Dale Christensen, Michael
Jenner and Michael Hally, who had qualified strongly
inside the top six.
Heat wins were shared around on the night with
Pascoe, Kane, Jordan, Hally, Black and Pearce
(Amazing Signs Mustang-Dominator) visiting victory
lane.
The 6-lap Dash saw Pascoe secure pole position for
the feature, downing Kane, Wayne Brims, Ian Brims,
Campbell and Hally, clocking the fastest lap of the
night along the way in a dominant display.
Kane’s runner-up finish enabled him to expand his
lead in the championship, while Torr’s fourth
top-five finish from as many completed rounds (round
two was washed out) has propelled him into second
overall in the series standings.
The next round of the 2010/2011 Ian Boettcher
Proton Super Sedan Championship Series will be back
at Brisbane International Speedway on Saturday,
November 27.
