The
much-anticipated,
inaugural
30/30
Super
Sedan
event
is
set
to
rock
Charlton
Raceway this
Saturday
night
November
22
with
a
virtual
"who's
who"
of
Australian
Super
Sedan
drivers
and
a
host
of
well-credentialed
racers
from
other
divisions
ready
to
be
unleashed
together
on
the
1/4
mile
Toowoomba
raceway.
The
exciting
new
concept
has
been
the
talk
of
Super
Sedan
racing
since
it's
initial
announcement
back
in
June
of
this
year,
and
has
earned
praise
from
racers
and
fans
around
the
country
for
it's
innovative
approach
to
the
promotion
of
the
sport.
In a
nutshell,
the
30/30
events
will
be
run
over
two
thirty-lap
Feature
segments
with
a
mandatory
fifteen
minute break
after
the
opening
thirty
laps
to
allow
for
re-fueling
of
the
cars
and
driver
changes.
Prior
to
the
start
of
the
second
thirty
lap
segment, the
cars will
be
lined
up
in
the
order
they
finished
the
first
run,
with
a
roving
announcer
on
the
infield
to
keep
the
fans
up
to
date
with
the
changes
being
made
by
the
crews
and
to
talk
first
hand
with
the
drivers.
The
integral
ingredient
of
the
format
though
is
not
so
much
the
overall
race
distance
but
the
driver
pairings.
Placed
into
three
qualifying
groups
by
the
event
organisers,
the
list
of
drivers
nominated
for
the
two
30/30
events
at
Toowoomba
and
Lismore
is
impressive
to
say
the
least
with
some
pairings
bringing
seasoned
Super
Sedan
drivers
together
with
stand-out
racers
from
other divisions
who
have
never
turned
a
competitive
lap
in a
racecar
of
this
type!
Which
asks
the
question
of
who
is
under
the
most
pressure
to
perform
in
the
30/30
events?
The
seasoned
campaigner
who
will
need
to
get
the
car
up
front
to
give
his
"Rookie"
co-driver
the
best
possible
opportunity?
Or
the
"Rookie"
who
will
need
to
prove
his
credentials in
an
unfamiliar
car
he
has
turned
minimal
laps
in?
Or does
that
former
Champion
from
days
past
still
have
what
it
takes
to
man-handle
one of
these cars
around
a
1/4
mile
Speedway? Anyway
you
look
at it, these
races
will
provide
plenty
of
interest
and
excitement
for
the
fans
and
create
plenty
of
"bench-racing"
talk
back
at
the
shop!
The
30/30
concept
has
lured
Australian
Champion
Jamie
McHugh
temporarily
out
of
retirement
as
he
teams
up
with
Matt
Pascoe
in
the
#15
Dodge,
V8
Dirt
Modified
star
Luke
Oldfield
will
chance
his
hand
with
Craig
McGeorge
in
the
#3
AS
Concrete
Pumping
Pontiac,
sprintcar
racer
Terry
Bracken
will
partner
Steve
Pearce
in
the
#2
Amazing

Ford,
Sedan
star
from
the
80's/90's
Darren
Munro
will
suit
up
alongside
Jack
Childs
in
the
#24
Pontiac
and
former
Australia
1
Ron
Pyne
will
share
the
NSW3
Pontiac
with
Paul
Stubber.
And
just
for
good
measure,
add
the
John
Leslight
Ian
Brims,
Wayne
Brims
Mick
Sauer,
Ash
Bergmeier
Wayne
Randall
and
Victorian
Michael
Nicola
Peter
Nicola driver
combinations
to
the
list!
Saturday
night's
event
in
Toowoomba
will
also
pay
special
homage
to
long-time
car
owner
Murray
Gegg,
with
the
event
doubling
as
the
inaugural
Murray
Gegg
Memorial
in
honour
of a
man
who's
life
and
memory
will
always
be
treasured
amongst
the
Super
Sedan
family.
Gegg, who
fielded
cars
for
the
late
Grenville
Anderson
during
his
stellar
career
and
helped
many
a
racer
during
his
lengthy
time
in
the
sport, tragically
passed
away
earlier
this year
and
it's
fitting
that such
a
quality
field
of
drivers
will
race
for
a
memorial
award
in
his
honour.
The
Toowoomba
event
is
just
the
first
of
two opportunities
fans
will
have
to
see
such
a
star-studded
field
in
action,
with
Lismore
Speedway
hosting
the
second
30/30
show
a
week
later
on
November
29.
Both
shows
will
be
covered
extensively
by
David
Tapp
and
will
feature
on
the Chequered
Flag
program
on
Fox
Sports
in
the
weeks
to
come
so
keep
an
eye
on
your
local
guides
for
times
and
dates
for
these
programs
to
air.
