Defending
Series
Champion
Wayne
Brims raced
to victory
in
Round
3 of
the
2008/09
Bergmeier
Engineering
Super
Sedan
Series
in
Brisbane
on
Saturday
night
November
15,
leading
Paul
Geary
and
Peter
Warren
to
the
chequers
in
the
thirty
lap
Feature
event
and
in
doing
so,
re-claimed
the
Series
points
lead
from
Craig
McGeorge.
Brims,
the
winner
of
three
Rounds during
his run
to
the
Championship
last
season,
took
over
the
front spot
from
Gavin
Northfield
on
lap
five and
then
held
off
a
fast-finishing
Geary
over
the
final
laps
to
record
his
first
win
of
the
season.
Geary,
who
started
alongside Brims
on
the
second
row, posted
the
fastest
lap
of
the
Feature
race,
a
15.609s
(92.254
km/h)
effort
on lap
twenty
eight
as
he
chased
down
Brims
over
the
final
laps
only
to
fall
short
by
just
over
a
second
at race
end.
Peter
Warren's
third
place
finish
was
his
best
result
since a
top
five
finish in
the
final
Round
of
last
season's
Series
at
Maryborough,
while
Toowoomba
young
gun
Adam
Bradford
held
out
McGeorge
over
the
final
few
laps
to come
home fourth
and
record
his
best
result
of
the
season
so
far.
Unfortunately
for
McGeorge,
his
fifth
place
finish
on
Saturday
night
was
not
good
enough
to
hold onto
his
Series
lead
and
he
now
finds
himself
in a
tight
battle
with
Geary
for
second
on
the
points
ladder
ahead
of
the
next
Round
at
Gympie's
Mothar
Mountain
Speedway on
December
13.
Dale
Christensen,
from
position
seventeen
on
the
grid,
finished
sixth ahead
of
Jack
Childs,
Steve
Pearce
and
Trent
Wilson with
Qld
Champion
Darren
Kane
credited
with
tenth
place
points.
Kane
retired from
the
event
with
gearbox
problems
after
running
as
high
as
fourth
at
one
point
in
the
race
while
Tania
Smith
failed
to make
the
Feature
grid
after
rolling
the
NSW3
Rocket/Pontiac
Grand
Prix
in a
Heat
race.
Twenty
cars
were in
the
Archerfield
pits for
the
event on
Saturday
night,
another
strong
indication
that
the
Super
Sedan
Association's
car
counts
at
events
in
Qld
and
northern
New
South
Wales
remain
steady
and
at
some
regional
venues,
continue
to
grow. Association
President
Paul
Geary
is
buoyed
by
the
turnout
of
cars
at
the
first
three
events
of
the
season
and
is
excited
by
the
prospect
of
the
division
growing
even
further.
"We've
had
good
fields
of
cars
at
all
our
races
so
far
this
season,
especially
in
Rockhampton
and
Maryborough
for
the
first
two
Rounds
of
the
Series.
Both
the
Division
1
and
the
Development
Series
have
been
the
cornerstone
of
our
racing
the
last
couple
of
seasons and we've
been
fortunate
to
be
able
to
have
some
of the
best
drivers
in
the
country
racing
with
us
at
those
events
on
regular
occasions."
"The
30/30
events
this
month
will
also
give
us
the
opportunity
to
further
promote
our
form
of
racing
and
hopefully bring
a
number
of
new
competitors
into
the
class
as
well.
We're
looking
forward
to
some
great
racing
over
the
next
two
weeks
with
some
interesting
driver
pairings
amongst
the
nominations
we're
received
so
far."
The
Super
Sedans
head
to
Charlton
Raceway
in
Toowoomba
this
Saturday
night
November
22
for
the
first
of
the
much
anticipated
30/30
events,
with
the
second
event
the
following
Saturday
night
at
Lismore
Speedway
in
NSW.
The
30/30
format
calls
for
driver
pairings
to
compete
in
twin
thirty
lap
Feature
events
with
a
mandatory
pit
stop
and
driver
change
following
the
completion
of
the
first
segment,
with the
concept drawing
wide
approval
from
drivers
and
fans
around
the
country.
Round
4 of
the
Bergmeier
Engineering
Series
is
scheduled
for
Saturday
night
December
13
at
Gympie,
with
the
third
Round
of
the
Red
Devil
Radiators
Development
Series
also
on
the
same
program.
