The 2009 Australian Speedway Racing Rules and Regulations were officially launched by NASR today. Copies will be posted to all current 2009/10 licence holders or with licence renewals. A copy can also be downloaded from the NASR website www.nasr.com.au/natracingrules.

This is the third edition produced by the peak speedway body, which unifies the rules of Australia’s major racing divisions. Those participating include AMCA Nationals Australia, Australian Lightning Sprints Racing Association, Australian Wingless Sprint Racing, Classic/Vintage Demonstrations, Compact Speedcars Australia, Junior Quarter Midgets Australia, Late Model Racing Australia, Restricted Sedans Associations, Speedcars Australia, Speedway Karting Association of Australia, Speedway Sedans Australia, Sprintcar Control Council of Australia, V8 Dirt Modifieds Australia plus many state based classes.
NASR consultant Tony Parkinson, who has previous experience from implementing the rulebook in 2007 when he was the NASR Projects Manager, led the project in conjunction with NASR Competition and Operations Manager Paul Trengove. “The first thing that you will notice,” explained Trengove, “is the exciting new pocket sized, spiral bound format which is much easier to hold and open.
“The Racing Rules Advisory Committee (RRAC) has reviewed the previous rulebook and recommended some changes, which were approved by the NASR Board. In particular, major changes have been made to the judicial procedures as a result of the recent lengthy appeals and the need to reduce the legal costs of appeals. A summary of these new procedures can be found inside the back cover.

“This is the third edition of the Australian Speedway Racing Rules and Regulations and whilst the number of participating divisions continues to increase, these rules will be subjected to continuing review by the RRAC," said Trengove.

A vertical line in the left hand margin indicates any rules that have changed from the previous edition. As always it must be noted that competitor groups will still be responsible for the technical specifications of their respective divisions however bringing all sections into line with the one rulebook is a major achievement for the entire speedway industry.
