Double Row Restarts for NSSS
NSSS Media Release

The organisers of the Carline Mufflers National Super Sedan Series have implemented an exciting change to the restart procedure for the 2011/2012 season with double row restarts to be utilised during all NSSS races.

The decision to introduce two-wide restarts has gained the support of competitors in an effort to provide an even greater spectacle for race fans, as NSSS Manager Tony Parkinson explains: "While the Carline Mufflers NSSS provides great Super Sedan racing, it was agreed by the NSSS Working Party that we must do more to promote the series and to entertain fans.  Two-wide restarts was seen as one opportunity to increase the entertainment.  This is certainly an example where the drivers have put the need for entertainment before their own self-interest.  Having the field lined up two-wide for restarts is certainly going to provide increased action as the cars dive into turn one.  The Working Party was concerned if the track condition was not suitable for two-wide racing and there will be an option for the Chief Steward to revert to a single file restart.  I am very confident, given the professionalism of the NSSS drivers, that two-wide restarts will add to the close side-by-side racing that is a feature of NSSS racing."

Whilst race officials retain the right to revert to a single row if track conditions dictate such a decision, all NSSS host tracks should have no trouble accommodating this format, which will  encourage drivers to use all of the race track all of the time and provide even closer racing.

Parkinson has also confirmed that, despite experimenting with some alternatives last season,  the race format for the first ten rounds of the 2011/2012 Carline Mufflers National Super Sedan Series will comprise three rounds of qualifying heats and a 35-lap feature race. The Grand Final will feature a new format for Super Sedan racing that will culminate with a 40-lap feature event.  More details will be announced at a later date.
