TWO NIGHTS OF SUPER SEDAN THUNDER AT TOOWOOMBA

SSA Media Release

This weekend April 30th and May the 1st the Queensland Super Sedan Association take the ‘Ian Boettcher Proton’ and ‘Send with Us’ Super Sedan series back to Charlton Speedway in Toowoomba for round 16 and the previously washed out round 12 of the main game and the final round of the supporting development series with around 30 cars to hit the track on night one and just over 20 on night two.

The ‘Proton Series’ is really tight at the top end with series leader Darren Kane now under pressure from Craig Torr the second placed driver who closed to within 70 points of the series leader.  Kane had a poor round points wise at Gympie last start and he can ill afford that to happen again with this weekend and two more rounds to go.

Points are also tight between third to fifth placed drivers Steve Jordan the Australian champion, Jason Campbell who won the last round and Steve Pearce.

In the ‘Send With Us’ series Grant Shaw has a strong grasp on the lead and would need disaster to occur to lose the championship whilst the battle rages between second and third placed Peter Smith and Brendan Doyle who are separated by just 11 points.

Entries in the ‘Proton’ series are Tim O’Shea, Mark Pagel, Mat Pascoe, Damian Bulger, John Leslight, Bevan Collins, Ian Brims, Shayne Lau, Steve Jordan, Jack Childs, Graeme Elliott, Wayne Randall, Wayne Brims, Jason Campbell, Lachlan Onley, Steve Pearce, Craig Torr, Sean Black & Darren Kane.

Entries in the ‘Send with Us’ series are Kev Barkle, Allen Schultz, Barry Grundy, Brendan Doyle, Grant Shaw, Les Pascoe, David Musch, Peter Smith, Michael Jenner and John Tischler.

Local drivers include Sean Black, Shayne Lau and Peter Smith who will do their best to give Toowoomba folk a reason to cheer with Smith looking for lots of support as he tries to finish the development series in second place for the season.

Support for the ‘Proton’ series for night one comes from Willmott’s Haulage and from Afco Shock Doctor for night two.
