It certainly
wasn’t the most conventional of ways to take out his fourth
feature race victory of the 2010/11 season, but Darren Kane was
able to miraculously take out the sixth round of the Proton
Queensland Super Sedan Series last Saturday night at Brisbane
International Speedway on just three wheels.
The Boettcher
Racing Team driver suffered a left front tyre on the opening lap
of the feature race after contact from another driver, but he
didn’t let it deny him of taking out the winning spoils.
“It was a tough
task to nurse the car through to the finish, but I was able to
hold take out the win after adjusting my driving style and also
having a bit of lady luck on my side along the way helped too,”
commented Kane, who had amazingly recorded the second fastest
lap of the feature race on the 13th lap. “Those
restarts made me a bit nervous each time, as I was worried that
the rim would dig into the track or something like that during
the roll around laps and I’d be stuck.”
Throughout the
opening half of the feature race Kane sat in second place behind
leader Steve Jordan, but he moved into command during the middle
stages when the latter spun out of winning contention.
I knew that if I
stayed with Steve [Jordan] and kept the pressure on then I’d be
a chance of winning and that was how it played out,” the QLD #
36 Boettcher Race Parts supported Dominator Mazda XR8 driver
said, who had earlier in the night won two out of the three heat
races, finished third in the other, and then qualified on pole
position for the feature race after he had taken out the Top 6
Dash event. “Up until we suffered the flat tyre in the feature
race the car was performing great and it was just a shame that
we weren’t able to get the most out of the car due to that
problem.”
Once again,
Kane’s latest and fourth feature race victory of the season has
consolidated his lead in the Proton Queensland Series point
standings.
Kane and the
Boettcher Racing Team are set to next be in action at Kingaroy
Speedway for the seventh round of the Proton Queensland Series
on Saturday night, December 18.
